Howdy Angelic, and welcome to planDisney! I’m excited to see that you’ll be at the Most Magical Place on Earth during the merriest time of the year. It’s my absolute favorite season to visit, when the theme parks and resort hotels are covered in festive decorations!
The holidays are a popular time at
Fort Wilderness, so the campsites are fully booked for your dates at the moment. However, I’d be happy to chat about a few different options for your son and his fiancée!
First, keep checking the Disney World website. Other guests are always changing their plans throughout the year, so a campsite may pop up at any time. Another option would be to book one of the
cabins at Fort Wilderness, which currently has availability (though that could change by the time you read this). My family loves the cabins' glamping vibes with its own bathroom, full kitchen, living room area, outdoor deck, and lots of natural sunlight!
The nearby
Wilderness Lodge is also one of my favorite places to stay. It’s so cozy and festive this time of year, especially with the majestic Christmas tree in the lobby! But it’s important to note that, while there’s a bus that runs between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, the campground is often limited to overnight guests around holidays like New Year’s and Halloween. So if your son and fiancée stay there, they may not be allowed to visit Fort Wilderness at certain times during your stay.
Before I go, there are a couple of things I wanted to mention. When you’re at Fort Wilderness, be sure to look for a special New Year’s Eve activity schedule. The offerings can vary each year, but in 2024, there was a photo scavenger hunt, a pool party, and a beach bash with a DJ and games. My family also loves
renting a golf cart to explore the campground loops. Many guests go all out decorating their campsites and it's fun to see what everyone puts up!
And if you’re interested in a
Holiday Sleigh Ride, be sure to make a reservation as soon as your booking window opens. Since you’re staying at Fort Wilderness, you can
make reservations for Enchanting Extras and dining 60 days before check-in for your entire stay (up to a 10-night stay). This is a great perk since the seasonal horse-drawn excursions are super popular.
I hope you have the most magical stay at Fort Wilderness next year, and I’m wishing on a star that you can snag another campsite for your son! In the meantime, if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
