I want to try to convince my parents that the perfect graduation vacation is 5 days at Disney World as a family. I just went this past spring break, but I want to go again. Since yall are all parents, do you have any tips for them to say yes? Thanks!

Oooh you are quite the clever girl aren't you, enlisting a mom to break down another mom. Alright I'll go against my secret-moms-must-stick-together vow for you, but ONLY because it's for Disney :-)

    Here goes ...

Just for you, I'm inventing a totally new concept: the graduation-moon. (Dictionary editors take note; you heard it here first.) OK, you know the honeymoon, when the happy couple spends special quality time together because their whole world is changing. There is also now the baby-moon, when a couple expecting their first child goes on a grand vacation, spending special quality time together because their whole world is changing. The graduation-moon is the same idea, You need some quality getaway time with the people closest to you before your whole world changes.

When I was a little kid, we went on family vacations every year. But once I was done with high school, the concept of the entire family going somewhere together fell by the wayside very quickly. My college vacations didn't coincide with my siblings school vacations. I had an internship in between semesters so I couldn't get away. My mom couldn't get time off from her job when I could get time off from mine. Or later, I was too cool for the family and only wanted to go away with my boyfriend. And the next thing you know I'm planning trips for my own family.

Right now, you are on the cusp of everything changing. You want to savor this special time. You want to make memories with your family that will last forever. You want to cherish the special bond you have as the unit you are right now. Plus, a couple of spins on Space Mountain would be pretty fun too.

Go tell mom and dad that you love them. Give them my little speech.

    And enjoy your graduation-moon.
