Can we take a trunk onto the cruise?

Ahoy there, Noel Ana, and welcome aboard planDisney!

I’m so glad you set your course to ask us your packing question because we are a crew of planners who, like you, pack as much magic into our Disney Cruise Line vacations as we can.

Noel Ana, each Guest may board with a reasonable amount of clothing aboard the ship, not to exceed two bags per person according to the Cruise Contract. There isn’t a stipulation regarding the type of luggage a Guest may bring. One word of advice though, you will be required to store your luggage in your stateroom, and while the Disney Cruise staterooms are larger than most, there isn’t a lot of room to maneuver around something the size of a trunk. I recommend that you pack in suitcases and then store them under the bed, which is designed for even large suitcases to slide under. It helps to keep your room in shipshape!

Now, you may be happy to know each guest is also allowed one carry-on each (measuring no greater than 14 inches wide, 9 inches deep and 22 inches in height in order to fit in the security scanning at the port) as well as one personal bag. Noel Ana, I recommend that you place anything you may need as soon as you board the ship in your carry-on bag since after check-in your other luggage will not arrive at your stateroom until sometime after you board. I always include the basics like sunscreen and a water bottle. If you would like to take a dip in the pool, toss in your bathing suit, but leave your towels at home since they are provided. Remember to pack any medications, valuables, and your cruise documents and identification in your carry-on.

If you would like some ideas on what to pack for your cruise, there are some handy packing lists available on the Disney Cruise Line website. Depending on your itinerary, you may also want to add some magical extras to your list, so feel free to let us know which cruise you plan to take and we are happy to provide more packing tips.

Before you know it, Noel Ana, you will be setting sail on your vacation!  Please let us know if you have any other questions as you prepare for your vacation by sailing back by to me, or to our planDisney cruise specialists Tracie and Adrianna

    Wishing you smooth sailing,
    Shannon
