Hi Shaun, welcome to planDisney! I love staying at
Fort Wilderness Resort. Just a short
boat ride away from
Magic Kingdom, this idyllic campground is unlike any other Disney resort!
Now, let’s talk about taking your truck to Fort Wilderness. When a friend of mine stayed at the
cabins with her 2022 Ford Explorer, it just fit in the driveway. So it’s likely that your truck will be too big to park in front of your cabin. But I chatted with a Cast Member and, even if your vehicle doesn’t fit, you can always park in the overflow lot near the Outpost.
To get between your cabin and the overflow lot, you can walk (depending where your cabin is located), take the
internal bus, or
rent a golf cart. I love exploring Fort Wilderness by golf cart and usually bring decorations, like battery-operated lights, to string on the roof. You’ll see guests go all out in giving their cart some serious flair! Not only is it fun, but it also makes it easier to find your cart in the parking lot.
If you plan to bring your own golf cart, note that as of June 1, 2024, you need to show proof of insurance at check-in and sign an agreement and waiver.
There’s so much to do at Fort Wilderness, you don’t even have to leave the campground to have a magical vacation. Some of my favorite activities include dancing with Chip 'n' Dale at their
Campfire Sing-A-Long and visiting the horses at
Tri-Circle-D Ranch. You may recognize some of the horses from the
parades and
vehicles you see on Main Street, U.S.A.!
For a bit more adventure, channel your inner Woody and saddle up for a
trail ride, or
pony ride for the little ones! And if you’re interested in a dinner show, look no further than
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. I haven’t been yet, but my friends rave about this rootin’ tootin’ good time!
I hope this helps with your next trip to Fort Wilderness. And don’t forget, you always have a friend in me at planDisney!
