Going on a trip with my son, who is a Magic Key holder. Can I pay with my visa but use his discount? If not, can I put my visa information into his Disneyland app and then have him pay that way?

Welcome back to planDisney, Sue! We're happy to have you and thank you for sharing this question with us. How wonderful to be planning a Disneyland Resort visit with your son! Spending time with our loved ones at 'The Happiest Place on Earth' is truly the best gift there is!

The Magic Key Program is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy special benefits and reservation-based admission to the Disneyland Resort theme parks for an entire year. Generally, the dining and merchandise discounts are exclusively intended for the Magic Key Holder and they will be asked to show their Magic Key in order to take advantage of them at select dining locations and shops. However, I have also purchased merchandise or placed food and beverage orders as gifts for my family and friends, and have been able to use my Magic Key discounts so long as I was the original purchaser. It's a lovely way to spread a little magic with our loved ones!

The official Disneyland mobile app can save your payment information in the "My Profile" section. You'll see the option to add and store up to 6 credit cards, then they will be available to make in-app purchases like mobile ordering food and beverages which are often eligible for Magic Key discounts! These payment methods are separate from the credit card associated with a Magic Key that has been purchased using monthly payments (so, you won't have to worry that it gets charged for your son's Magic Key - in case that helps!) I should also mention that only Guests who are 18 years or older may save payment methods in the Disneyland mobile app.

I have also used a Disney Gift Card and even prepaid cards from major credit card retailers like Visa as a payment method within the Disneyland mobile app. Hopefully, this gives you and your son lots of options as you think about how to plan your day through the theme parks! If you're planning on doing any post-holiday shopping, I love using the Merchandise Mobile Checkout service within the app. This feature is offered at select merchandise locations and offers you the ability to scan your own items, complete the transaction, and then show the proof of purchase QR code to a Cast Member at the exit - all from your own mobile device without having to wait in any lines!

More than anything, Sue, I hope you have a wonderful and memorable visit with your son. Magic is awaiting you at Disneyland Resort! If we can help with anything else in the meantime, please don't hesitate to come back and share another question with us here at planDisney

    Magically yours,
