Hi there, Jessica! Welcome to planDisney!
Jessica, Walt Disney World Resort has taken proactive measures to
prioritize Guest and Cast Member safety, including enhanced cleaning procedures, social distancing policies, and mask requirements. Even so, some guests may not feel like now is the right time to visit. In this case, Walt Disney World Resort has made it incredibly easy for a guest to modify, cancel, or postpone a scheduled vacation.
If your family booked a vacation package, then you simply need to call and have the package
modified to include one less adult and receive a refund for your mother's portion of the package. You will know if you booked a vacation package if you booked a room and tickets together directly through the
Walt Disney World Resort website, or over the phone. Disney is currently waiving any change or cancelation fees up until the day of check-in for vacations scheduled to begin before or on December 31, 2020.
If your group happened to purchase theme park tickets separately from a resort reservation, you will still be able to cancel your mother's room reservation with no-fee. Jessica, theme park tickets bought outside of a vacation package are non-refundable; however, the amount paid for any ticket is not lost! You are always able to apply the value of a wholly unused ticket toward the purchase of a ticket for a future date or have that unused ticket transferred to another member of your party.
To make reservation modifications you will need to call (407) 939-5277 and the magical Cast Member will be able to make the updates needed. Be sure to have your confirmation number handy as well as the last name of the person who originally made the reservation.
I hope that this helped, Jessica! Please come back here to planDisney if we can help as you plan your magical November getaway!
