When the option for Guests of Walt Disney World Resort Hotels to
upgrade MagicBands from complimentary solid color bands to premium patterned bands went live several weeks ago, it was so popular that the upgrade options were sold out within a few days. Since then, some MagicBands have intermittently been back in stock with inventory fluctuating rapidly, and the ordering system has had its share of hiccups. As bands sell out, new inventory needs to be allotted, and it takes some time for the ordering screen to be updated.
Your choice of
MagicBands is not "locked in" until you have completed your transaction and paid for the upgrade. When choosing at least one MagicBand upgrade in your order, all MagicBand selections must be made at the same time. Once the transaction is completed, your selections may not be edited or changed, and your bands will be shipped shortly afterward. If only ordering complimentary bands, you may edit your order up until they are shipped, typically a couple of weeks prior to your arrival.
All Guests with a
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel reservation have the option to upgrade their MagicBands, regardless of when their trip is scheduled. If your visit was in the immediate future, say the next 30 days or so, I would advise you to keep checking back and perhaps trying a different browser. Since your trip isn't until late 2020, frankly I would let the dust settle and allow the glitches in the ordering process to be resolved before attempting to complete your order. The
deadline to customize your MagicBands and have them shipped to your home address is 11 days prior to arrival, so there is no urgency, as you have well over a year to make your choices. I would hope by this time next year the kinks will have been worked out and the ordering process will be running smoothly. I think if you wait until closer to your trip, you will have a much better selection of MagicBands to choose from.
