Hey there, Tammy! Thanks for reaching out to us here at planDisney with your questions about your December visit to Walt Disney World.
It seems that Advance Dining Reservations have been quite a feat to book lately. On my trip earlier this month, we had some reservations made, and changed quite a few while we were on the WDW property.
You might want to take another look in the app and make some reservations at places you haven’t ever considered.
Olivia’s Café at Disney’s Old Key West Resort is one of my favorite “hidden gems”. I have never had a bad meal there, and I highly recommend “Captain Wahoo’s Catch of the Day” or the Caesar Salad with shrimp. This restaurant had availability during your stay when I checked.
Splitsville Luxury Lanes is in Disney Springs, and even though it is a bowling alley, don’t be fooled. They actually have really great food (including fabulous sushi!). This is your chance to try some new places!
While you are on your vacation, be sure to pull up dining availability in the
MyDisneyExperience app often. We were able to score Steakhouse 71 and Toppolino’s Terrace on our recent visit, both the day before we wanted the reservation. We have also had really good luck with joining a walk-up list. I promise you will not go hungry; you just might have to be a little bit flexible.
Since you are visiting at my favorite time of year, be sure to head to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to see the enormous Gingerbread House. It is spectacular! You could also do a mobile order for Gasparilla Island Grill at the hotel while you are visiting. I had Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Soup and it was delicious!
I hope you have a wonderful December visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
Happy Traveling (& eating),
Tracy
