1st trip to DW - son's 5th b'day in SEP. We purchased the DDP & have a character, table & quick svc meal planned for ea day. How much time is needed for the table meals? We don't want to waste too much time waiting. Are reservations really req'?

DINING RESERVATIONS ARE ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY WITHOUT A DOUBT NECESSARY! (To borrow a trick from a fellow panelist, I've bolded, underlined, all-caps'd and italicized this statement to show how very very much I mean it!)  This is true especially during busy seasons like summer, major holidays, and during free dining, which is when you will be visiting.  I think you would have a very difficult if not impossible time finding a restaurant that could seat you with no reservation, and if you do you'd certainly have to wait.

In general, depending on how large your party is, how fast they eat, and how long you linger, I'd allow between 1-2 hours for a table service meal.  My family of 5 tends to be on the low side of that estimate, and I doubt we've ever been over 90 minutes anywhere.  Wherever you are eating, be sure to check in at the podium 15 minutes in advance so you can be seated at or very close to your reservation time, saving you from wasting precious park time waiting.

    Happy eating!
