1st trip (8 days) for our family. 10 DD wants to go to water park 1 day. Other kids are 7 & 5. Do you think it is better to have a "rest" day at the pool? Or is wp a good break. Staying at AKL. Will pool there offer enough? Love your pane

    Hi Allison,

My girls love taking a midweek break at Blizzard Beach. This park is a lot of fun for the entire family. We love Teamboat Springs and the wave pool. It is a great way to break up a week of touring the Walt Disney World Resorts. We generally head to Blizzard Beach about 9:30 am and stay until about 3:00 when a summer thunderstorm rolls in to send us scrambling. We then spend our evening at our resort or Downtown Disney.

The pool at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is very cool. It is designed to look like an African river right down to the brown water. But trust me the water is very safe for swimming. This pool has a zero entry area which looks like the bank of a river. It is one of my favorite places to swim. I know my girls were longing to spend more time at the pool.

One cool thing about the Animal Kingdom Lodge is to go looking for animals with night vision goggles. This is also a fun way to take a break from the parks.

    Have a great trip!
