We have a trip booked for Sept 26 - Oct 1 2011. I know that the Wine and Dine races are the weekend we leave and the 40th ann. of MK. I am worried about crowds the week that we are there. Historically, are the parks crowded the week before the races?

    Hi Bobbi!

Last year I had the opportunity to visit the parks and run in the family 5K race during the Wine and Dine Race weekend. Personally, I didn't find any impact on the parks during the week preceding the race.

Also, during the weekend, the races themselves are typically held at "off" times - the 5K race was at 7 am before the parks opened, and the half-marathon was at midnight!

The opening weekend of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival is quite a popular event (aside from the race) and does draw quite a crowd of visitors. For me, the crowds in World Showcase during opening weekend were higher than I expected. My advice, if you'd like to visit then, would be to visit early in the day before the crowds reach their peaks.

As for the 40th Anniversary celebration... Your guess is as good as mine! I haven't heard too much that makes me think it will impact overall crowd levels, but it may be too early to really know!

    Hope this helps a little!
