Hi Jeffrey!
Welcome! Welcome! Welcome to planDisney! It's always such an honor to help our Disney pals plan your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation. When a Guest comes to us with a question that I haven't considered, that is an additional challenge that I love to investigate. So thanks for your question, in particular!
I double-checked the
official property rules to be sure. Trekking poles are not listed as a prohibited item. I believe that he will likely be welcomed through those magical theme park gates with his trusty sticks. With that said the brave and friendly Cast Members who are in charge of keeping Disney Parks safe and comfortable for all guests do "Reserve the right not to allow any bag, parcel or other item and to deal with any unattended object, bag or luggage in such way as we consider appropriate."
I want to be sure that your father-in-
love is comfortable during his visit. Did you know that there are some additional resources available for Guests with mobility needs? There are
wheelchairs and
ECVs available for rent at the front of all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks and Disney Springs. Even when a Guest might no consider this option at home, the sheer number of steps that we take exploring the magic of a Disney Park makes this a great choice on vacation. My parents enjoy ECV rentals to keep up with their grandchildren in this most magical location.
If your in-laws are like mine, they will want alllll the pictures on your upcoming vacation. If you have not yet, I would consider adding
Memory Maker to your vacation package. Then, you can slip your phone right in your pocket and allow the talented
Disney PhotoPass Photographers capture those beautiful moments which will adorn the family walls for years to come! Download them all quickly and easily through your My Disney Experience account for printing and sharing.
I hope that helps! Please let us know if we can make any other recommendations for you as you continue to plan the most unforgettable Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Adventure is out there,
Sally
