We are travling to WDW for the first time in Dec with 4 kids undr 10. The 2-BD RM villa seem the best config for us. People have said both wilderness lodge & animial kingdom are 'too dark' and they didn't like them ? Others agree? Where should we stay

Hi, Dean!  There is different theming at all of the resorts to reflect the atmosphere they are trying to create.  At Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you will find the feeling to be very rustic.  We actually just stayed at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge for the first time in October, and my kids LOVED them.  They were not dark at all, seeming much lighter than the rooms at the lodge itself, and we even found the furniture to be lighter than we expected.  It still had a very cabin in the woods type of feel, but we really enjoyed our stay there.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Kidani Village are on the dark side, but we've always been told this is to accommodate the animals needs.  I love Animal Kingdom Lodge, and we stay here often, but I do bring a lighted makeup mirror with me to help me put my face on in the morning and help my husband with shaving.

If you want something lighter and brighter, I can recommend Saratoga Springs Resort or the Boardwalk Villas.  Both are much differently themed and lighter in decor.

If you go to allears.net you can click the link at the top for Accommodations and find photos on the site of all the villas.  You'll get a pretty good idea of what "dark" means when you see photos from Animal Kingdom Villas.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
