Ahoy there, fellow twin mama! Life is always an adventure with toddlers, but twin babes are adventure squared (not double, squared!). We took a Christmas cruise with our boys right after they turned 3, so be prepared for an absolutely magical journey! Let's go over a few things to ensure
smooth sailing.
Dining: Do your best to get the
first dining seating. When our kiddos were little, dinner was at 5, with a bath at 6, and bed by 7. We stuck to this same schedule onboard, and everyone was happy! The Cast Members at dinner will also happily bring highchairs or boosters for your babes.
Fun Stuff: Meeting Characters was our toddlers' favorite activity. Before you sail, download the
Navigator app. As soon as you board, jump on the app for their schedule and reserve (specific greetings require a booking window) or "heart" an appearance time so that it shows up on your personalized daily schedule.
Water Time: All ships have splashtastic water zones for the babes! Pack plenty of water diapers (if they're not potty-trained) and swimsuits. If the twins are
toilet-trained, they are welcome in the pools; if not, you'll need to stick to the splash pads. You can bring sunscreen with you or buy it on the boat. The
shops have a very well-curated selection of baby necessities if you need anything.
Adult Time: Make sure to plan time for you to
relax and enjoy yourself without the kiddos. Mama goes to the spa, ALONE, every time I cruise, and Palo's brunch is one of my favorite meals anywhere.
"it's a small world! nursery" is honestly one of the most magical places on the ship. Disney's Childcare Specialists are well-trained and fantastic (essentially Mary Poppins). We never worry when our children are in their care, and they have an excellent system in the Navigator app to communicate with you. When your booking window opens, you can book times for them to stay before your trip. Once onboard, head straight to the nursery to reserve additional times (don't wait; head straight there; otherwise, the good slots will be gone!).
Other Things: When you register the twins at the nursery, they will get
a special DisneyBand+ that stays on the whole cruise. It's another built-in safety mechanism that I love on the ship. If you need Pack n' Plays, a Diaper Genie, rails for the bed, or a bottle warmer (subject to availability),
Guest Services or your room host will be happy to help. If you book a
Family Stateroom (I'd skip the Verandah with twin toddlers, no need for additional angina!), you will have a heavy curtain that can separate a kid's sleeping area while allowing the adults to go about their business in the room.
Whew! I think that's enough seafaring tips for now. Feel free to float back by with any other questions!
