I will be travelling to WDW October 23-30, 2013. I have 2 daughters, ages 3 & 5; this is our 3rd year here at Halloween. We want to stay at the Animal Kingdom Resort. I am looking for help on where to stay in the Animal Kingdom as we have no experie

Hi, Derek!  If you want the full Animal Kingdom Lodge experience, I can't recommend highly enough a savanna view room.  These rooms, located at different parts of the resort, offer a view from your balcony of the animals that roam the grounds.  You could literally wake up and see a giraffe from your room balcony.  I always do a treat of room service breakfast for my girls one of the days of our stay, so they can enjoy their breakfast while the animals are enjoying theirs. We like the rooms on the Arusha savanna, which is the only one that also has zebras.

If you are going to book a savanna view room, consider something above the second floor.  I feel like I can see and enjoy more of the animal action if I'm up a little higher, so I usually request the third or fourth floor.

The Lodge is basically separated by trails.  If you want to be closer to the pools and the restaurants, make a request for Zebra trail.

The trails can feel pretty long, especially at the end of a very long day.  You may also want to ask for something not too far off the lobby, regardless of which trail you pick.

I love Animal Kingdom Lodge.  I hope your family makes as many magical memories as our family has!
