Welcome back to planDisney, Penelope. Thank you for trusting us again with a question about your upcoming family vacation to Walt Disney World.
Traveling with a large group is both a TON of fun and sometimes a bit challenging, as I am sure you are finding. When making dining reservations at 60 days before your arrival, I have found that while you are able to search for a group of 11, it is often better to split your party into smaller groups and make multiple reservations.
I would suggest you enlist the help of a couple other adults in your party. You should all plan to be online at
MyDisneyExperience the morning of your 60 days out. When you see availability at a restaurant for 2-3 reservations at similar times, have each person book for 4. When you actually on your trip in the spring, you can check-in to the restaurant and let the cast member know that there are multiple reservations that you were hoping to combine. We did this in October and our party of 9 was accommodated with just a short wait.
Some of the restaurants that I find it easier to get larger parties into are
Olivia’s Café at Disney’s Old Key West Resort and
Trattoria al Forno on the Boardwalk. I love both of these eateries! Olivia’s Café is not only affordable, but the food is fantastic for any meal of the day. My favorite is the Caesar Salad with shrimp or the Olivia’s breakfast. At Trattoria al Forno, the atmosphere is so fun, and the Italian food is delightful.
I wish you luck with making your dining reservations! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get all your choices right away, you can keep trying. We had good luck by checking often while we were at Walt Disney World in November.
Happy Traveling (& eating),
Tracy
