Hi there Narelle,
Thank you for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I hope you are having a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah day!
Now this is a fun question! In January at The Happiest Place on Earth, the weather is a little chilly during the day (think light jacket or long sleeves) and cold at night. We were there last week and it felt like Elsa was following us in the evening - love her. I’m fond of this weather at the Disneyland Resort! I am a nut for attractions so I’d be swaying you to a park visit but…
Two years ago we went to Maui to visit my in-laws at the end of January and the weather was random. Snorkeling is the best and I love an adventure in the great wide somewhere - where else is better than Hawaii?!?! I imagine the weather at Aulani would be the same, you’re at Hawaii “Disney-style” so who cares if it is raining one minute, sunny the next and then cloud cover again?! You go get another Dole Whip right?!
For a trip to Walt Disney World this time of year, I think this would be the best time to visit. Sure, you still have the humidity but you do have the chance for cooler weather (Florida’s version) which is always nicer.
If it were me, I’d choose
Aulani or
Disneyland Resort. Warmer weather? Aulani or Walt Disney World.
I can’t wait to hEAR where your Disney adventure leads you to celebrate your prince’s 40th birthday! Have so much fun exploring together! If you have any more questions, please visit us here and let us know how we can help you plan your magical vacation.
Wishing you magic!
