I am travelling for the first time with my 10 and 5 year old. My 5 year old has a severe peanut allergy, I have made reservations for the Dream in December online. How do I let Disney know that we have a child with a peanut allergy travelling with us?

Welcome aboard, Susie! Setting sail this December will be such a treat for you. You'll get to escape the chilly temperatures up north and head south with Disney Cruise Line for a "Dream" vacation to the Bahamas!

Disney Cruise Line is excellent in working with families who have food allergies, so please rest assured that your child will have all sorts of safe options in the way of food. Since you mentioned that your child's peanut allergy is severe, I'd suggest you contact the Special Services team soon so they can note that on your reservation and go over their specifics of how they handle that onboard. Call them at 407-566-3602 and have your cruise reservation number ready.

Your servers in the dining room will be notified and you'll be given safe options to choose from for your little one's meals. Disney suggests that guests with food allergies plan to eat all of their meals in the main table-service restaurants, as the kitchens there are better set up to handle food allergy needs, as opposed to the quick service food spots onboard.

One of the fabulous things about setting sail with Disney Cruise Line is that they have rotational dining, which means guests rotate through all three signature restaurants onboard, and your same dining servers will be with you in all of them, meeting you there each night. This will be especially nice for your family, as you will not have to meet new servers and re-explain the allergy each time. Your servers will get to know you and your family and anticipate your needs, working with you closely.

I promise you that Disney is the best at handling food allergies, Susie, and your whole family is in for one amazing cruise with very tasty food!

    Happy planning!
