Hi, Sarah! Welcome to planDisney! It sounds like you will be living your best life in your RV this summer. As was said in one of my favorite Disney movies, Up, "Adventure is out there!"
Many guests love traveling to the domestic Disney Parks in their RVs since it allows them to bring all the comforts of home with them. You can park your RV at Disneyland Resort as long as it doesn't exceed 40 feet in length. You've done some excellent research already, and you are correct- the only parking for oversized and recreational vehicles is the
Toy Story Parking Area. While there is no reservation required for parking, a
standard parking voucher can be purchased ahead of time and is valid for 24 months from the date of purchase. However, other types of parking, like preferred parking or, in your case, oversized vehicles, will require the payment transaction to be done on-site at the toll booth. The lots open 30 minutes before the theme parks, and you can park there until one hour after the parks close in the evening. Unlike Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort doesn't operate any RV campgrounds, but there are several well-respected campgrounds in the Anaheim area, some as close as a 1/2 mile from the parks!
If you get your kicks on Route 66 during your road trip, Sarah, you'll feel right at home at Cars Land in
Disney California Adventure Park. My kids love riding
Radiator Springs Racers and then cruising over to the
Cozy Cone Motel for a Chili “Cone” Queso or a Bacon Mac ‘n’ Cheese Cone. Make sure to tell Mater I said hello! Ka-chow!
