Hi Moms, we are travelling to Disney on 1/2/2016. We want to watch Fantsamic at 7pm ( mon 1/ 4 ) and then head to Bongos Cuban Cafe for an 830pm reservation. Do you think the booking is too early? Will we have enough time to get from HS to DD? Thanks

Hi, Kathleen!  Fantasmic! lasts just about 25 minutes, so you should be out of the show by 7:30.  Now, normally, I recommend that people give themselves about 45 minutes to an hour of transportation time between locations like this.  But...

When you leave Fantasmic!, you are going to be competing with a crowded theater full of people, many of whom are now looking to leave the theme park.  For many of the approximately 7,000 guests, Fantasmic! is capping off the end of a fabulous theme park day, so plan to be stuck in the traffic headed out of the theater to the buses, boats, or parking lot.

If you are using Walt Disney World transportation to get you to Bongos Cuban Cafe, I would say you are cutting it VERY close.  You can sit in the back of the theater, and plan to head out as soon as the show has ended to try and beat the rush, and you may be lucky enough to grab transportation right away.  I would suggest the boat to the Beach Club, then a bus from the Beach Club to Downtown Disney.  Another option is a bus to Pop Century Resort, then the bus from Pop Century to Downtown Disney.  Those are probably going to be the quickest options using Walt Disney World transportation.

You can also snag a taxi cab right outside of the theme park.  That may give you the fastest way to get between the two places.

Have a wonderful dinner! I so love the ropa vieja at Bongos, and I hope you enjoy whatever you try.
