I am travelling to Disney with my two grandchildren 12 and 10 yrs old. They love to ride anything but I am not able, is it possible for me to go through the line with them, make sure they get on safely and then wait for them somewhere else?

Hi there, Tonya! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It’s great to be able to answer another question for you!

Walt Disney World Resort is truly committed to providing magical experiences to Guests of all ages! While some younger Guests may not be able to ride certain thrilling attractions due to height restrictions, other Guests just may not enjoy the more exhilarating attractions! This is something I often have to navigate with my own trips. As the resident thrill-seeker of my family, I love any attraction that gets my heart beating fast! Unfortunately, I tend to be the only one in my group with this inclination for adrenaline so I find Walt Disney World Resort’s flexibility within attraction queues very helpful!

Yes, it is completely possible for you to walk through the attraction queue with your grandchildren without actually experiencing the attraction. For example, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of my personal favorite attractions but, while I love the thrilling plummet of this attraction, my family does not. Due to this, we generally wait in the attraction queue together and, once we make it to the front of the line, we let a Cast Member know that I am going to be the only one actually experiencing the attraction. At this point, the other Guests in my party will be escorted to a place near the exit of the attraction where they may wait for me. It is also very helpful to organize a meeting spot near the attraction's exit prior to splitting up to avoid any confusion among members of the party!
Have fun vacationing with your grandchildren in the near future!
