Hello! We are travelling back to WDW in May & have the QSDP - my son (11) is now a pescatarian, so please could you help me with some good QS and character meal suggestions that will cater to him as well as us carnivores! Thank you!

    Hello Anna!

I too am a happy carnivore, but we often travel with our vegetarian friends. Disney truly is an excellent vacation destination for those with food restrictions and allergies! My sister-in-law has several dietary restrictions and she has said that she never eats as well as she does at Walt Disney World.

Just a few weeks ago Disney announced a newly expanded offering of menu items that are all plant-based! Over 400 new plant-based dishes are coming to the Walt Disney World Resort in the coming weeks, and so there is likely to be something at almost every location that your son can enjoy. They even have this new handy Guide to Plant-Based Cuisine Options that should be very helpful to you. Maybe have your son sit down and look at the guide with you, as it outlines the various menu options throughout the resort!

For table service, you should make Advance Dining Reservations and be sure that your son’s dining needs are noted on the reservation. If there isn’t something specific on the menu for your son, the chef may be able to make him something special. Since you specifically asked about Character Dining, I would recommend buffets, and breakfast is always a good option since eggs and Mickey waffles meet everyone’s needs! Chef Mickey’s is a popular location, or you may enjoy the Crystal Palace with Pooh and his friends from the 100 Acre Wood.

You’ll find some wonderful choices at quick-service locations throughout the parks. At the Magic Kingdom, Columbia Harbour House is a favorite of my sons. They enjoy the fried shrimp and fish. Try Sunshine Seasons at Epcot for sushi rolls, fish and vegetarian options, and at Disney’s Animal Kingdom you’ll find delicious options for everyone at my favorite Satu’li Canteen. While I'm not vegetarian, the Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl even sounds good to me. Make sure you try dessert here, it is both beautiful and delicious!

Not to worry, Anna, you should find yummy options for your entire family at most every location at the Walt Disney World Resort!

    Happy dining!
