Hello, Catherine!
Thank you for sending your question to planDisney. I am glad you are adding a stop at Disneyland Resort to your exciting United States vacation!
It is recommended that Guests in Australia use a local travel agent to
purchase theme park tickets for Disneyland Resort. When I needed a travel agent in the past, I asked my friends and family for their recommendations, posted in a local mom's group on social media, and searched for "Authorized Disney Vacation Planner" in my area. I suggest using an "Authorized Disney Vacation Planner" as they are the experts when it comes to Disneyland Resort vacations.
Another option is to wait to purchase theme park tickets until you arrive in the United States. You should be able to visit the United State's version of the Disneyland Resort website as soon as you land in the country. Under "Parks & Tickets", scroll down to "Theme Park Tickets". This will walk you through the purchasing process, including the number of days, the number of Guests in your party, and your ticket type.
Guests can choose between One Park Per Day Tickets or Park Hopper Tickets. Park Hopper Tickets allow Guests to "hop" between both theme parks at Disneyland Resort starting at 11:00 a.m. (subject to availability). Disneyland Resort has two theme parks:
Disneyland Park and
Disney California Adventure Park. They are located next to each other, and I like having the ability to visit both parks on the same day. Keep in mind that both valid theme park tickets and park reservations are needed to enter Disneyland Resort. The website will guide you through both the ticket purchasing and park reservation process at the same time. Park reservations can be limited or unavailable if not booked in advance, so I would try to purchase tickets through a local travel agent ahead of time if you can.
Building a lightsaber at
Savi's Workshop is a unique experience! Your travel agent might be able to help with reservations (if they are available). Reservations can typically be made up to 60 days in advance. You can also try making reservations after landing in the United States on the Disneyland Resort website. I just checked the calendar for Savi's Workshop for the middle of August, and many dates still show availability (subject to change). Guests who want to cancel their reservation at Savi's Workshop must do so at least one day ahead of time to avoid a cancellation fee, and that means that reservations sometimes become available the day before your preferred date.
Catherine, I hope this information was helpful. Do not hesitate to reach out to planDisney again if you have additional questions!
Magic Happens!
