Hi Barbara!
Welcome to planDisney! We're glad you're here! I'm happy to help answer your question about rest areas for service animals at the
Walt Disney World Resort. Navigating the theme parks can be quite tiring for all guests, including the four-legged ones. Rest assured there are areas located throughout the parks for you and your service animal to take a much-needed break.
Walt Disney World states that service animals may relieve themselves in any area of the park, provided the owner cleans up after the animal and the area is left clean. Additionally there are
dedicated areas within each park that are designated relief areas specifically for service animals. There are five areas in Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, respectively, and four in Epcot and Hollywood Studios. A comprehensive list of areas can be located at the link provided. As for rest areas for your dog, it can be difficult to find a place away from the hustle of the parks, but let me suggest the following areas which might give your animal some quiet time.
Magic Kingdom--The area around behind Liberty Square. There are places with rocking chairs, benches, and shade on the small walkway from Liberty Square to Adventureland.
EPCOT--The walkway from Future World to World Showcase has benches and trees which afford both your animal and you a few moments of rest, while you people watch. Behind the United Kingdom pavilion is a quiet garden area which is great to get away from the crowds.
Hollywood Studios--There are a few nooks and crannies throughout Batuu that will allow you and your service animal a chance to relax. Also, near the exit to the Hollywood Tower of Terror, there is a rest area that is typically shaded and quiet.
Animal Kingdom--The walkway from the main entrance to Discovery Island, known as the Oasis, offers a few quiet areas for you to take a break.
Service Animal Planning Tip: Dedicated areas for animal relief can also be located on the map area of the
My Disney Experience App. Click on the location icon at the bottom of the app, which will take you to the map. In the drop-down menu at the top, select Guest Services, and then click on Service Animals. It will then show the areas that are permitted for service animal relief.
Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!
