We are traveling to WDW this September with our 4 year old son. We are debating on whether to get the "basic" dining package or the "deluxe" dining package. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

    Hi Brandon,

What a magical time you are going to have with your pirate this September!

I have used the basic dining package with my daughters who are 9 and 11.  I have found it is a lot of food to consume even for my husband and I.

The main difference between the two is that you are getting all of your meals covered with the deluxe and you can have table service option available for all of your meals which is a nice feature.

If you had a hungry teenager, I would definitely recommend the deluxe because my nephews go through more food than a small nation.  However, unless you tell me your pirate will eat everything for all three meals, I think the basic is a better value at this time.

How my family uses the basic on most days is we eat breakfast in our room which is usually cereal we bring from home or pickup on the way.  For lunch, we grab counter service as we never know where we will be in the park or when we will be hungry. Dinner is our table service meal as it allows us to take a needed break in air conditioning and we can figure out if we should call it a night or not.

Remember think about how your pirate eats as well as the Captain and Princess in the house.  This is really the best bet when deciding.  Also, remember you can use your snacks and meals in any combination.  For example, on the basic dining plan during a 5 day stay, you get five table service meals.  If you want to eat all five table service meals on the first day, you can but you may be hungry on the last day.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if I should walk the plank!
