Hi Nicole. and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You must be getting so excited now that your trip to Walt Disney World is just around the corner!
Giving your kids a set spending limit during your vacation is such a great idea. It gives them the freedom to choose how they want to spend their money, which is a great lesson on budgeting, and also gives you peace of mind knowing they're not breaking the bank. While you do have the ability to set spending limits on
MagicBands for anyone in your group, at this time it is not possible to link
Disney Gift Cards to pay for those purchases. To do that, you must have a credit card linked to your account. However, there are a couple other options that still might work.
What I usually do when I visit with my family is to link a credit card to my account at check-in and then have a spending limit set for each child's
MagicBand. Any purchases your kids make will be charged back to your room, but your credit card won't be charged immediately. That means you can just stop by the front desk to pay down your bill with any Disney Gift Cards you might have at the end of each day. I also like doing this because I can see a list of charges, which also helps me stay within my vacation budget.
The other option is to simply have your kids use the actual Disney Gift Cards to make their purchases. This would require that you carry them with you in the parks, which isn't as convenient as using
MagicBands, but would serve the same purpose.
I hope that helps, Nicole, and wishing you a most magical vacation! Stop by again anytime if you have any other planning questions.
Beth
