I am traveling to WDW July '08 with DH and DD - age 2. I haven't been to WDW since '79 and am a bit unaware of the best things to schedule in advance. We will probably be staying at either Pop Century or Caribbean Resort.

    Dear Lauri,

Boy has Walt Disney World changed since 1979!

I would definitely schedule sit down dining reservations soon.  The Advance Dining Reservations allows you to put your name in for a table at a certain time of day.  About ten minutes prior to that time, you walk up to the restaurant and give your name, and they seat you at the next available table for your party size.  In July when it is hot and crowded, dining reservations in air conditioning will be a welcome relief to touring!

Another reason to make Advance Dining Reservations is because some parks have limited sit down restaurants, and they will have few spaces for walk ups.  Some of your best dining can be found just outside the parks at the hotels which flank them.  I would visit the Disney website for dining information or Allearsnet.com for menu selections at the restaurants.

I would also go ahead and book your hotel.  I have not stayed at Pop Century but have at Caribbean Beach.  This resort might be too big for you because you have a little one and a stroller to bring onto the Disney bus.  If you want moderate, I would recommend Port Orleans because it is smaller.  The smaller the resort the smaller the number of people on the bus each day.

The other concern about location is if you need to come back to the hotel daily for naps and swimming.  The further out you are the longer the bus ride.  You may be better off staying closer to the parks on the monorails or boats (Contemporary or Boardwalk) for a shorter stay than further out for a longer stay in which you spend more time in transit then the parks.

    Have a great trip!
