Welcome aboard, Lori! I'm thrilled to hear that your family has booked one of the magical cruises with Disney up north to Alaska next summer! A cruise with Disney Cruise Line is always a wonderful experience, but the splendor of Alaska really adds something extra special to that itinerary!
You'll see a variety of dressy attire worn by all ages on Formal and Semi-Formal nights. Your son can wear a dress shirt and khakis to dinner on one of these nights and fit in. However, if he wants to dress up more, (or should I say if YOU want him to dress up more!), a tie and/or a jacket or a suit would be appropriate as well. At the very least, though, on those dressier nights, a dress shirt and long dress pants will be fine. Those nights are especially fun because even the Disney characters get in on the formal attire, wearing tuxedos and evening gowns. It sure makes for some fun pictures with your family dressed in their best standing with those Disney characters done up to the nines too! Be sure to have your cameras ready!
Once you're onboard, your Personal Navigator will let you know which night is Formal Night, Semi-Formal Night and if there will be a Pirate Night. This year's Alaska sailings saw Pirate Night replaced with the
Pixar Pals Party, which turned out to be a lot of fun! This may happen again next summer in Alaska too, but we won't know those details until it gets a bit closer. Stop back with any other questions throughout this next year as you continue to plan your Alaskan voyage with Disney Cruise Line, Lori!
