Traveling next March with my grand daughter who has diabetes any suggestions on food planning in the restaurants and parks?

    Dear Joan,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us again here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with such an important question!

The great news is that Walt Disney World Resort bends over backwards, I believe to accommodate guests with food restrictions, allergies, and special diets of a wide variety. Your granddaughter will be well taken care of!

First, I recommend doing a bit of pre-planning in order to minimize the challenges when your family is hungry and everyone is tired and ready to sit down to eat a meal. All of the menus for all of the restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort are online and include ingredients. They do not include nutritional facts or carbohydrate counts, however, so that is where you can reach out to Special Dietary Requests and they can assist you to plan out her meals ahead of time. There are options that will work for her at many Quick-Service and all Table-Service restaurants.

Be sure to bring all of her supplies and lots of extra supplies as well, because sometimes in the heat diabetics find that their settings and needs change considerably. Of course, if there is a problem, there is a top-notch health care staff on hand and ready to assist you!

Hope that helps with your magical planning!
