We are traveling with a 14 month old in Mar 09 and would like to go to WDW and AK. Which resort would be the closest to either park so we can easily travel back and forth for naps via Disney transportation?

    Martha,

I'm guessing you mean the Magic Kingdom?  If so, then there are three resorts on the monorail which are very convenient.  They are the Contemporary, the Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian - all deluxe resorts.  A short boat ride away is the Wilderness Lodge, and the Ft. Wilderness Campgrounds.  The Wilderness Lodge is also a deluxe resort, but has a lower price tag than the other three, if that is a concern to you.  Any of these resorts would be great for going back and forth for naps or swimming while you are at the Magic Kingdom.

None of the resorts are in close proximity to the Animal Kingdom.  Because of the vast savannahs needed for the animals, there really can't be anything nearby.  Disney really has created an authentic experience at this park.  Of course the Animal Kingdom Lodge (also a deluxe resort, but lower priced) is the closest, but even then you will have to take a bus.  The only way to AK is on a bus or in your own car.

    Hope that helps!
