Ahoy, Dawn!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and congratulations on your upcoming cruise on the majestic
Disney Magic! This vessel holds a special place in my heart because it was the ship we made our first Disney Cruise Line memories on. I hope your family creates "minnie" unforgettable memories when you cast off in December!
You have asked a great question about the youth programming, and I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction so your crew knows what to expect when it's your turn later on this year. The best option for your two will be
Edge (youth club for ages 11-14) as long as there is space for your daughter. Even though your daughter doesn't quite meet the minimum, you will be able to move her up if you sign a waiver. One of the main differences between the Oceaneer Club and Lab and Edge is the freedom to come and go without the need of a parent signing a child in and out. There is an option for older children to do that for the club and lab, but it's only with parental consent. With Edge, all participants have the right to come and go, and there are activities that require the tweens to leave the space (i.e. scavenger hunts), so the waiver you sign will state that you are in agreement with this policy. On the first afternoon, stop by Edge and speak with the youth counselors. They will be happy to discuss their planned programming and answer any questions you may have about the space. I also recommend your children attending the scheduled activities on the first night. Icebreaker type games are planned, and it's when many kids make friends and get to know the awesome counselors.
If you have further questions, please let us know!
Have a magical day!
