I am traveling with 3 other friends. They want to do the basic dining plan but I want to do the deluxe for the extra snacks, mug, and appetizer...can I be on a different plan than them if we are staying in the same room and booking the trip together?

Everyone staying in the same room must be on the same dining plan.

In your situation, I'd say that you should opt for the basic plan and then just add to your food on an a la carte basis. Guests who are on the basic dining plan are always welcome to supplement their meals with additional purchases. For example, the adult basic dining plan does not include appetizers or alcoholic beverages, but you are welcome to order these and just pay for them separately. Similarly, you could always just buy an extra snack and refillable mug.
