Welcome aboard, Marisa! I remember the first time my daughter was old enough to begin attending Edge, the Tween Club, on Disney's ships. She loved the Oceaneer Club and Lab for years, but was ready for a little more "grown up kid" fun. She made fast friends and spent lots of time enjoying the activities for the tweens throughout that cruise! However, she still wanted to pop in with her younger brother so as not to miss some of her favorites in the Club and Lab. At 11 years old, she got to do both, and so can your son!
Since
Oceaneer Club and
Lab are for ages three to 12, and
Edge starts at age 11, those 11 and 12 year-olds luck out with three clubs to attend! At Edge, parental check-in and check-out is not required, so be sure to talk with your son to set your own rules for his leaving the club, and keep in touch via the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App's free onboard texting feature, if he has his own mobile device. That is so valuable when my daughter is off in the clubs and heading out with new friends for ice cream. Since she checks in with me, I have peace of mind, always knowing where she is, but she has that much desired freedom too!
If you'd like your son to be able to pop back and forth between the clubs on his own, you can also sign a permission form at Oceaneer Club to allow him self check-out privileges. Then, he can enjoy a fun activity with his brother in Oceaneer Lab but be able to head up to Edge for the start of a tween event without you having to check him out.
He's in for so much fun in all of the clubs, Marisa!
Have a magical adventure!
