Traveling to DW 19th-26th of Dec. This will be my families 2nd trip to DW for Christmas. Want to take my DD (9) horseback riding, is the riding available 365 days a year? Best way to get to FW from Contemporary? Should I book in advance? Thanks!

    HI Casey!

I'm glad to hear from another South Carolinian! My daughter is also a huge horse girl, and I think this activity needs to be high on our next to-do list at Disney World!

The requirements for riding at Fort Wilderness are that riders must be a minimum of 9 years old and 48" tall (One additional requirement: Riders must be under 250 lbs). The rides are offered multiple times every day of the year. The 45-min ride is currently priced at approx. $46 per person regardless of age.

Since Christmas week is a very busy week at Disney World, I would recommend making a reservation in advance. I'd hate for you to miss out on an activity that your daughter will enjoy! During the busy times of the year, the rides will be booked fairly far in advance. Occasionally an additional afternoon ride time may be added during these times, but this is not guaranteed. Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-PLAY

Traveling to Fort Wilderness from the Contemporary is super easy! Boat launches serve a route that currently travels a loop of the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness. The boat docks are located to the rear of the resort, past the pool area.

I hope this helps you plan! I'd love to help you out with any other questions you may have! Please don't hesitate to ask!
