Traveling to Disney with a party of 6 (4Adults/2kids) August 28 - Sept 9. Do taxi's have enough room to accommodate 6? How are rates determined? How long does it take to get a taxi/cab? Laura

There are two kinds of taxis that serve the Walt Disney World area: regular car-style cabs that seat up to four guests and van-style cabs that seat up to nine guests. The rates for both styles of cabs are the same.

Prices are subject to change, but currently the Orlando area rate is approximately $2.20 for the first mile and $.55 for each 1/4 after that. There are set rate fees from the airport to the Walt Disney World resort hotels. These are clearly posted at the airport taxi stands.

You can generally get anywhere on WDW property via taxi for less than $20. For example, i recently took a cab from the Grand Floridian to the Animal Kingdom Lodge -- two of the WDW spots most distant from each other. The fee was about $18.

I have had very good luck getting taxis at WDW. There are generally cabs waiting at the airport, theme parks and resorts, particularly the deluxe resorts. If you find that a cab is not waiting when you need one, just ask the bell services desk at the hotel to call one for you.

If you are at your hotel and know that you will need a cab at a certain time, you can also call down to the bell services desk and reserve a cab for that time.
