We will be traveling to Disney for New Years Eve this year! We will be arriving around 12:30pm at the resort on 12/31/2022, and have a park pass reservation for Magic Kingdom. Do you recommend that we drive our own car to Magic Kingdom or use Disney buses?

    Hello Morgan! Welcome to planDisney!

WOW! It doesn't sound like your New Years Eve plans could get any more spectacular! Ringing in the New Year at The Most Magical Place on Earth is a dream of mine, but I've never actually made it happen.  I bet you and your party are going to have an amazing time.  Not only will you get to celebrate the New Year, you'll also still get to explore the Resort while it's dressed up in its holiday best!

While Walt Disney World Resort always rings in the New Year in style, no definite plans have been announced when it comes to exciting entertainment, fantastic fireworks or dazzling DJ dance parties just yet. I would definitely plan on keeping your eye on the Disney Parks Blog as the holiday season inches closer.  This will be the first place to catch all the details about what's in store for you and your party at Magic Kingdom.

Since you've already purchased your Theme Park Tickets and made your Theme Park Reservations you're in pretty good shape when it comes to the planning process! I think in this instance having a Theme Park Reservation is a sigh of relief knowing the Park won't reach capacity and you'll be able to experience what is sure to be a magical memory.

Personally, I love using the complimentary Disney Transportation to get to and from my Disney Resorts Collection hotel.  At the end of the evening when I'm exhausted from a long, fun day at the Parks it's great to sit back and relax. However, if you're hoping to avoid the crowds on your way home, hopping into your own personal car might make you more comfortable.  Since staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel gives you complimentary Standard Theme Park Parking, you won't have to worry about paying either way.

My biggest tip would be to spend a little more time in Magic Kingdom after the fireworks.  Most Guests will head down Main Street U.S.A. and exit the Park right after the show.  Instead of waiting outside of the Park to head to your car or bus spend some time grabbing a midnight snack or shopping in the Emporium.  Whatever you choose, bring your patience and know that this will be a night you'll remember forever!

    Have a magical New Year!!

Hi All, I'm Ashley! From the very beginning Walt Disney World Resort has always been a part of my life. As a child I excitedly helped to plan family trips, as a young adult I planned our "happily ever after" right on Disney property, and now I'm lucky enough to plan magical vacations for my three incredible children. When we're not taking in the enchanting experiences of the parks, we're home in Massachusetts, probably planning our next trip! Learn More About Ashley
