We will be traveling to Disney for my husband's 40th birthday and I am trying to plan a nice family dinner. We travel to Disney every year but now that our kids are older I would like to try something a little more upscale. Our youngest child is 7.

Hi, Tara!  There are so many options available to you and your family, depending on the type of food your family likes to eat!  With my daughters, though, their first "step up" at Walt Disney World was at Jiko at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.  The food there is some of the best we've ever had, and I always make it a point to go early, so we can take the girls out to the savannah to see the animals, and then after dinner, head back out to see if we can catch the African Storytellers or a night time glimpse of some of their favorite creatures.  You could also try Sanaa, the new restaurant at the Kidani Village at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.  This restaurant allows you to see the animals as you dine, and this can help keep kids occupied during a longer than normal celebration dinner.

Another good option might be Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian.  I love it there because in addition to kid favorites like pasta and chicken nuggets, you can also order a filet mignon or baked fish for your children.  This wonderful restaurant can offer some terrific views of the Wishes fireworks from the Magic Kingdom and the Electric Water Pageant.  Those are things you can usually depend on to help keep kids entertained so they'll sit comfortably longer.

If you want a nice experience inside a theme park, Teppan Edo in Japan combines delicious cuisine with a table side show from your hibachi chef.  For a wonderful steak dinner, Le Cellier in the Canada pavilion is also a very nice choice.

    Enjoy a wonderful birthday dinner!
