Hi, we are traveling on Disney Fantasy in February of 2014. We are a large group, 12 in all and I am wondering the best way to make this a smooth transition. How do we check in? Board together? I am also wondering about hotel options near the port. Thanks!

    Hi Erin!
I love to hear you will be sailing with a large group on your Disney Fantasy cruise!  With so much to do on this vessel, everyone will have a vacation of a lifetime!
I think you are smart to be thinking ahead about the logistics of embarkation so your group will experience smooth sailing from the get-go!  If you are new to Disney Cruise Line, you will be able to select your Port Arrival Time 75 days prior to sailing online in the Planning Center Section of the Disney Cruise Line website (this can be done as early as 12:01 midnight Eastern on that day).  If you all want to board together, I suggest selecting the same Port Arrival Time.  Since past Disney Cruise Line Guests do check in online prior to 75 days, the earliest boarding times may already be taken.  Boarding times are listed in 30 minute increments starting around 11:00 AM and going until around 3:00 PM.  If you don't all have the same boarding time, you crew will do better arriving at the later time. There are photo opportunities with characters in the terminal and a embarkation photo-op right before boarding the ship which makes sticking with your group a good idea if possible!  One other detail to factor in is your boarding number which each family will receive when they actually check-in at the port.  If you are in line together, you will most likely receive the same number so you can make your way through the golden Mickey ears as one big group. When you check in a castmember will check your documentation, snap a quick picture, hand you your Key to the World cards, and give you your boarding card before you are allowed to embark.
I'm about out of room, but the two closest hotels to the port are the Country Inn and Suites and Marriott's Residence Inn.
I hope I've steered you in the right direction!  Please write back if I can assist you further!
