Angela,
So you are coming in early August, which is typically a fairly busy time of year. You are going to get some pretty large crowds. But with a little planning (which clearly you are doing - good for you!), you can navigate it!
So to beat the heat, and the crowds, on a daily basis, I really recommend taking an afternoon break every day. Go back to your hotel (if it is not too far away) in the early afternoon. Hit the pool, put the kids down for naps, or do both. That is what we did with our girls when they were that age, and it makes the day go smoother. It also makes the week go by more smoothly as well, as they will remain much more energized. Also, you will miss the peak of crowds, as long as you arrive at the parks at opening, and return in the late afternoon/early evening.
As for parks, here is where I would go;
- August 4: Arrival Day
- August 5: Magic Kingdom
- August 6: Epcot
- August 7: Magic Kingdom
- August 8: Hollywood Studios
- August 9: Animal Kingdom
- August 10: Magic Kingdom
- August 11: Departure Day
This gets you 3 days at the Magic Kingdom and 1 each at the other three. If you have a park hopper you can mix it up even more, and you may find that in the afternoon that you may mix up where you go to to get more time in one park or another that you have preferred. But with your kids I would expect you find more in the Magic Kingdom of interest than in the other parks!
Write me back with more if I can help!
Have a magical vacation!
