We are traveling with 4 boys ages 5-8 and two girls ages 1 & 7 and one adult is a Vegetarian. The day we go to AK (Feb 16, 2011) I need to choose a dinner restaurant from 1900 Park Fare @ 4:45, Boma @ 5:00 or Whispering Canyon @ 6:45. Suggestions?

Hi, Kimberly!  I am a HUGE fan of Boma, so for me personally, that would be my first choice.  There are plenty of options available, including some wonderful vegetarian options.  My girls also love the resort, and we like to arrive before dinner or plan to spend some time after to head out to the savanna, watch the animals, listen to a story teller, and plan an evening.

Whispering Canyon is heavy on the meat options, with one of their most popular dishes being an all you can eat skillet featuring ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and brisket.  They have a chicken vegetable penne pasta that might be adaptable to a vegetarian diet, but most of the other entrees feature an animal protein in a prominent position.

1900 Park Fare is a buffet meal, where you are likely to find at least one entree that will work for a vegetarian.  We visited recently, and there were mushroom ravioli on the menu the night we were there, but the buffet changes, so I'm not sure what might be offered during your visit.  My girls enjoyed the character interaction at the restaurant.

With advance notice, they can usually provide a vegetarian option at any restaurant.

I hope you have a wonderful visit!
