Hiya Robert,
It is great to see you back at planDisney. You have asked about travel times from a Walt Disney World Resort near and dear to my heart.
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter is the very first Walt Disney World Resort I stayed at. While it has been about thirty years, this resort still brings back wonderful memories every time we visit. We love strolling along the Sassagoula River and taking in all the New Orleans theming.
One of the many perks of staying at a
Walt Disney World Resort is the use of
Walt Disney World's Transportation system. While the transportation system includes everything from buses, to boats to monorails and more, the option you would be using at Disney's Port Orleans Resort is the Disney buses. The buses typically begin operating about one hour before the theme park opens until one hour after the theme park closing.
If you are attempting to estimate travel times, keep in mind that you need to allow time for the buses to unload any guests returning to the resort, and then load any guests traveling with you. This process could take a little while, especially if the Cast Member needs to assist a guest with a wheelchair. Once everyone is onboard, the ride from the resort to Magic Kingdom takes about fifteen to twenty minutes. This time could increase depending on traffic, especially in the morning when the park is first opening. On average, I like to plan one hour for travel time from one location to another.
One last thought, be sure to enjoy some beignets at
Scat Cat's Club - Cafe. They are delicious. I hope you
stop back to see me if you need any additional Walt Disney World planning help.
With pixie dust,
Margaret
