Transportation ?s for trip 9/14-9/21, POR...heading to Epcot on 9/15 & wish to use monorail and see rope drop. What is best method? What time should we leave POR? Also, best transp. to Ohana from POR for 9/17 dinner, with AND without monorail, pleas

Hi Ivy! Your Disney vacation will be here before you know it! Traveling around Walt Disney World is easy using the transportation system of buses, boats, and monorails. The monorail connects Epcot and the Magic Kingdom parks and also links the Magic Kingdom with the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian hotels. The Port Orleans Resort is not on the monorail route.

The easiest way to reach Epcot from the Port Orleans is to take a bus directly to the park from the resort. The ride takes about 25 minutes, but you may have to wait 15 minutes for a bus to arrive. I'd recommend that you plan to leave your hotel room 45 minutes or an hour before the park opens. (If you have a monorail-loving kid and want to use it to get to Epcot, you could take a bus from the Port Orleans to the Magic Kingdom and then take the monorail to Epcot from there. However, this trip could take an hour and a half, so I wouldn't recommend it since you want to see rope drop.)

To reach 'Ohana from the Port Orleans, just take a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then take the monorail around to the Polynesian Resort. This trip will take about 45 minutes. In lieu of the monorail, you can also take a boat from the Magic Kingdom over to the Polynesian. You'll walk by the boat launch on your way to the monorail so look and see if the boat is at the dock or on the way. If it's not, you'll likely find that the monorail is your quickest way to get to dinner at 'Ohana.
