Is there transportation from resort to resort, if so between which resorts and what method of transport other than resort stops on the monorail? Or are there only connecting transport via stops at the parks?

Hi Shelly!  Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with another great question.

In general, there is not direct transportation between Disney Resort Hotels.  In most cases, a transfer will be involved at a theme park or Disney Springs.  However, there are some Resort Hotels that are in proximity to one another that will make getting from Resort to Resort a little bit easier.

As you mention, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort are all on the monorail "loop".  There are also water taxis that transport Guests between Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and Magic Kingdom Park.

Water taxis also connect Disney's Contemporary Resort with Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

The Resort Hotels that circle Crescent Lake are within walking distance of one another.  This includes Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels.  Boats also operate between the Crescent Lake Resorts and Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Other Resort Hotels within walking distance of each other are the three Disney's All-Star Resorts: Movies, Music, and Sports; Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside and Port Orleans - French Quarter Resorts; Disney's Art of Animation and Disney's Pop Century Resorts; and Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Riviera Resort, opening later this year.

The new Disney Skyliner system opens up a plethora of possibilities when it comes to Resort to Resort transportation.  Although transfers may be involved, the Skyliner is so quick and efficient it makes travel between Resort Hotels super easy.  The Skyliner connects Disney's Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts with Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Riviera Resort, and International Gateway at Epcot, which is within walking distance of the Crescent Lake Resorts.

Shelley, if you would like to travel between Resort Hotels that do not provide direct transportation, you may wish to consider Disney Minnie Van service.  These cute polka-dotted vehicles can be requested and paid for through the Lyft app, and will take you door to door.

If you would like tips or suggestions on the best way to travel between specific destinations, please feel free to write us back.  We are always happy to help.  Have a wonderful stay!
