Cara from FL Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Is there a way to transfer from one race to another that is not sold out? Example; half marathon to super ten miler.

    Hey Cara,

Thanks for stoppin' by planDisney with your runDisney question. I love a good runDisney Race Weekend for all of the positive energy, those early mornings that make you feel like you have owned the whole day by 6 AM, and the appetite I work up to eat allllll of the tasty things I can find later in the day. I'm so excited to see that you are participating.

You just might be able to transfer your registration from one event to another on the same weekend, provided it is not sold out. I have never known anyone who has done this, though, because most events sell out within hours (sometimes minutes!) of Registration opening. For that reason, I can't confirm it with personal experience. So, I dug into the official language to get to the bottom of this for you!

The official runDisney Race Policy language is different for events held at Disneyland Resort than those for Walt Disney World Resort.

For runDisney events held at Disneyland Resort: "Registrations may be transferred within the same race weekend to a longer race distance, as long as the desired race distance is not sold out. The participant must log into their runDisney account and select the registration they wish to transfer. Once the participant has selected the new distance they wish to transfer to, the participant will be prompted to pay any difference in registration price (if any) and then a transfer processing fee will be applied."

For runDisney events taking place at Walt Disney World Resort: "runDisney event entries/bibs are not transferrable between individuals, between events weekends or to events that have reached capacity/sold-out." This leads me to believe that entries could potentially transfer between events if circumstances require it.

If you would like to transfer between races in the same Walt Disney World Resort runDisney event weekend, I would attempt to use the same process outlined above for a Disneyland Resort transfer. If that doesn't seem to work, use this contact form or email rundisney@disneysports.com with your request. The friendly Cast Members at Disney Sports work tirelessly to provide us with an incredible experience, and I am sure they will respond as quickly as they can.

By the way, currently, there are (surprisingly) still openings in runDisney Springtime Surprise 10-Miler and runDisney Springtime Surprise Challenge. I'd act quickly!

I hope that was helpful, Cara. Enjoy your training, and I'll see ya in the starting corrals!

    Adventure is out there,

    Sally
