Hi Dillon!
Welcome to planDisney!
My Disney Experience is your go-to for keeping all of your vacation plans in one location! I used to travel to Walt Disney World with a spreadsheet, and while I still use one at home to plan out my park days and
Advance Dining Reservations, when I travel to the parks, I now have all those reservations in the palm of my hand with the
My Disney Experience Mobile App. There are some limitations, however. One of these limitations is that you cannot “transfer” a reservation between accounts.
But Hakuna Matata, Dillon! No worries! In my experience, this isn’t a big deal. I have had this situation before and it has never been a problem. In fact, for our visit next week I made reservations for the friends we are traveling with to have a family dinner on their own. While I cannot remove my name from the reservation, if you are linked via the Family & Friends tool, you can select their names as the other Guests. I’ve left the youngest kiddo off, since my name is still there. When my friends show up at the podium, they can just give my name “Reservation at 5 PM for Minnie Mouse.” They can also just explain that I made them the reservation as I was the main vacation planner, but won’t be joining them, and that they are the other names on the reservation.
If you wish to transfer the reservation to a Guest you don’t know personally or aren’t traveling with, there is no way to do this. Your best bet is to communicate with this other Guest and let them know exactly when you are going to cancel the reservation, and they can attempt to search for that reservation at that same time to hopefully snag it. But it is always possible someone else may grab that reservation first.
I hope this helps answer your question, Dillon. Please let me know if you have any additional questions I can help you with before your visit!
Have a Magical Vacation!
