Ellen,
Thanks for your question to planDisney!
Walt Disney World
Resort Transportation has an elaborate network of boats, buses, gondolas, and monorails that transport guests to the magic every day. What you are going to ride will depend on your route but let me give you the basics of what you can expect.
Resort to ParkIf you are moving from a resort to a theme park you will have either a
bus, the
Disney Skyliner, the
monorail, or a
boat to get you to your destination. Most resorts rely on a bus to get to a park, but there are obviously exceptions. For example, there are a few resorts where you can walk to a park, like from
Disney's Beach Club Resort to EPCOT, or from
Disney's Contemporary Resort to the Magic Kingdom. It would be too much for me to list all the routes here in one answer, but if you have a specific resort in mind, you can write me back and I will let you know what your options will be.
Park to ParkDisney does offer either bus, monorail, or Disney Skyliner service between the parks. The Disney Skyliner will connect your travels between EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios all day long. The monorail can transport you between EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom as well. For all other theme park connections, Disney offers a bus service starting between 1 pm and 2 pm in the afternoon, primarily to assist with park hopping, but available to all guests.
Other DestinationsDisney has bus service to Disney Springs from all their resorts, with a few where you can walk or boat over. What is great about that is that Disney Springs bus depots serve as great mid-points in your travel, especially if you are wanting to go from one resort to another. There are other destinations across Walt Disney World, with very specific transportation options.
So that is an overview. Please feel free to
write me back directly and let me know if you had some specific routes in mind, and I would be more than glad to offer you more detail, as well as an idea of travel times.
Have a Magical Vacation!
Doug
