Welcome Back, JoAnn!
I'm so glad to see you back with another question about Castaway Cay! When you are at Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure, there are primarily stingrays to visit while snorkeling. But, I have great news for you! If you walk a little way down the Family Beach on Castaway Cay, there is a 22 acre snorkeling lagoon that has a variety of fish plus some special Disney underwater surprises to explore. There is no cost to snorkel if you bring your own equipment, but a diving vest is required. You can pick up a vest at Gil's Fins and Floats or Flippers n Floats. You can also
rent snorkel equipment at these locations.
The Snorkeling Lagoon is accessed from Castaway's Family Beach, but it is a bit of a swim to get out to the "good stuff". I recommend that only strong swimmers try this, as getting back to the shore after exploring can be tough (I speak from experience). Once you are out in the lagoon, there are floating buoys to help mark where to see the surprises. There are also a couple of very helpful lifeguards out there who will also help guide you to the underwater surprises.
If you have a group of adults, swimming at Serenity Bay is awesome, and you will see lots of sea life in the regular swimming area. On our last Disney Cruise, we saw a sea biscuit, a huge hermit crab, a starfish, and even a small shark in Serenity Bay. The water around Castaway Cay is crystal clear and perfect for snorkeling.
A day at Castaway Cay is a day spent in a true tropical paradise. I hope you have a wonderful time visiting Disney Cruise Line's private island!
Please ask any more questions about your upcoming cruise!
Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
