Hello. We are going to be in town the last week of September and are thinking about hitting MK for a day. Are their any advantages to going on a party day? Just thinking less crowded or something. Thank you

    Hi Julie!

Thanks for stopping by with a question for me. I'm happy to help!

Last September, my husband and I enjoyed an adult-only weekend at Walt Disney World Resort. We had attended Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with our kids the year before, so we decided not to add it to the itinerary for this particular visit. Instead, we enjoyed a relaxed Sunday at Magic Kingdom Park on the same day the Halloween Party was scheduled.

At first, I was a little disappointed that we wouldn't be able to watch Happily Ever After, my very favorite nighttime entertainment offering, at the end of the day. However, a neighbor who had visited just a few days before our arrival promised the low crowds would make up for it. She was right!

I remember taking a screenshot of the current wait times that day because I was so surprised to see many attractions with a 10-minute wait or less. Of course, some of the more thrilling attractions had higher times, but as a whole, everything was listed with a much lower standby wait than we had experienced on previous visits. We originally planned to stay until about 5 p.m., around an hour before the park officially closed to daytime guests. However, we accomplished so much that we decided to head out around 3:30 p.m. and enjoyed a refreshing dip at our Disney Resorts Collection Hotel pool. We never felt rushed or crowded and the experience that day made us plan the same type of schedule for our upcoming visit in a few weeks.

Now, I can't guarantee your experience will be the same, but typically, guests like to get in as many hours as possible with a 1-day ticket purchase. When Magic Kingdom Park closes early for events like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, some guests decide to spend a longer day at another theme park or upgrade to Park Hopper Option tickets so they can head to a second destination for the remainder of the evening. EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing during your travel dates, so it might be fun to spend part of your day at Magic Kingdom Park and enjoy the menu offerings at EPCOT later in the day.

I hope this helps you make an informed decision, Julie. If I can offer any other planning tips or suggestions please feel free to write me again. Wishing you a magical trip!

    Magic and memories,
    Amy
