I am torn between eating at a restaurant just to get the fantasmic package and standing in line with a 9 yr old. what is the best way to enjoy the fantasmic?

    Hi Cindy,

Fantasmic is a wonderful show and is definitely one of my family's favorite things to do at the Hollywood Studios.

I usually see the show using the dinner package.  I have eaten with my children at Mama Melrose and Hollywood and Vine.  Though I have eaten at the Brown Derby with adults, I have not with my children. However, at their age, 9 and 11, I probably would now.  My family's choice would be Hollywood and Vine because it is a buffet and it is the least expensive.  (Our favorite restaurant is 50's Prime Time Cafe.  Since this is not an option, we are not as particular with our food choice.)

Now, depending on when you go, you may not need the dinner package.  If you are going when there are two shows, the second show is less crowded.  However, can your princess stay up that late?

One final thing to think about.  You will need to pay a deposit up front.  If you do not cancel your reservation within 48 hours, you are penalized.  This is unlike a regular Advance Dining Reservation where if you do not show you are not penalized.  For this reason, I book the Fantasmic Package early in my trip when my princesses are fresh, and we are not as tired from touring.

Even the best touring princesses may need a break from the heat. If at 3:00 pm your princess needs to swim and your package is at 5:00 (the Fantasmic Packages book earlier so you are guaranteed to be done dinner), you probably can not get back to your hotel to swim, change, and make your reservation.  I would not want to have to choose between a cranky child and my deposit. So just another thing to consider.

If you are going during a slow period, you should have no problem lining up around 8 to get into the show.  Unlike when it first open, you can bring food in and they sell refreshments.

    Enjoy the show!
