We are torn between booking the Grand Floridian and the Yacht Club. We have a 5 and 7 year old. Love the convenience of the mono nad the kids activities at GF but the pool looks better at Yacht. Any opinions?

In my opinion, once you're out of the stroller years, the monorail access is much less important. While being convenient to the Magic Kingdom is a great benefit of the Grand Floridian, the Yacht and Beach Clubs have equal convenience to TWO of the Disney theme parks (Epcot and Hollywood Studios), PLUS the Yacht and Beach Club pool is by far the best at WDW.

My family stayed primarily at the Floridian when our kids were preschoolers, but we made the switch to staying mostly at the Beach Club (the Yacht Club's sister) when the girls were 4 and 7.  We enjoy sharing the great international foods at Epcot with them. I LOVE being able to have a great meal with my family at the Rose and Crown at Epcot's World Showcase and then having just a quick ten minute walk back to our room.

Stormalong Bay, the Yacht/Beach pool, is like a mini water park all on it's own. Stormalong Bay has a shallow sandy-bottom area that's great for castle building, a junior water slide for younger kids, as well as a drifting river area for adults and swimming areas for children. Also there are a super-fun whirlpool zone and a really spectacular water slide or big kids.

As for kids activities ... all the deluxe resorts have children's activities. These vary frequently, so you can't be sure exactly what you'll encounter during your visit. But while I've been at the Yacht/Beach Club they have offered nighttime movies on the beach, art projects, butterfly hunts, volleyball, and more. There will be plenty for your kids to do.

The Grand Floridian and the Yacht Club both offer top-of-line experiences. I've stayed at them both several times and you really can't go wrong with either one.
